"The most recent body of work includes a series of road kill prints that I have been developing since late 2003. I became fascinated with this subject matter as I traveled the highways and back roads of Georgia and South Carolina. I was first attracted to their strong visual presence, which I enjoy transforming into a visual language. Whether it is the prehistoric look of the armadillo or the dynamic gesture of the possum feigning death, I use the subjects as vehicles to address formal elements and principles such as line, shape, texture and pattern. In addition, their unfortunate circumstances allowed me to explore more universal themes such as fate, luck, deception and truth and their impact on our day-to-day lives."
